Improving my web 2.0 knowledge with Flickr...

Looking at other people's blog, I had noticed that actually showing a photo-stream of my pictures directly on my blog was something I liked more rather than just posting the link to Flickr.
So after the useful information I found reading Peter's post about Flickr and its benefit, I managed (after a little while I have to be honest..) to upload the video from Flickr.
I think it is way more striking than only having the link shown ...
So here it is.

  1. I agree with you Laura - it really does create a much more striking effect than just displaying the link. I also think people are much more likely to click on something on the web if they don't have to leave the page they are currently on. I am sure there will be some proper statistical research out there somewhere on it but that is my belief. I have decided to use this idea on my own blog too having seen how much it improved yours...I have used a slideshow at the top of my page which I plan to add to during the course as I build up more pictures.

  2. I looked at your new blog and I think it does look much better, I like it a lot. The slideshow at the top is very nice and again striking for the people reading your blog... it really gave me a better idea of who you are and your work experiences even without knowing you in person. I too keep changing my layouts and appearance of my blog depending on my mood and looking at other people's blogs...I keep wanting to improve it! :)

  3. Laura - good variety of photos. asking the question - who is the audience? I would say it is the BAPP network because of the variety - I think others in the course would be interested in the different styles and places you work. If you had a different audience in mind- a professional one - would yo put together different collections of images? Are there any particular images you have had a lot of success with? If you had to pick 1-3 which would you choose? OR do your clients like to see a variety?

  4. Well, to be honest, up to the point of your post I hadn't even thought of considering a different audience. Since the photos I usually get done are linked to my profession, I only put the most recent and the ones I use for castings and the performing field...but if I had to choose the one I used the most it's definitely the last one, my headshot. I found that that photo of me could either work for my profession (for instance for castings and my CV..) or for my professional life of "normal jobs". It's a plain picture of me and I think, from different audiences, I can be seen as a performer as well as a simple person/worker. Hope that's not only my feeling...please feel free to object that....I will now consider putting different photos that reflect myself and not only for the BAPP network.
